Odyssey's PC1200 may look a pretty ordinary battery, but don't be fooled by appearances. Despite its compact size (20x17x19cm), it kicks out an enormous 1200 Amps max cranking power. In effect, the PC1200 is small enough to fit practically all cars, and it's powerful enough to start most of them too.
The reason for this incredible output is the Absorbent Glass Mat design. Instead of having normal plates suspended in liquid acid, the plates are separated by glass matting. This means thinner plates can be used, and the unit is literally stuffed full of them – giving a vast plate surface area and massive cranking power.
Other advantages are that the unit won't leak, if tipped, because the matting soaks all the free acid up. And because the plates are pure lead there's only negligible self-discharge, which means there will still be enough power to start your car even if it's been standing a year
